“In a democracy, someone who fails to get elected to office can always console himself with the thought that there was something not quite fair about it.”
Wars and elections are both too big and too small to matter in the long run. The daily work - that goes on, it adds up.
Did you, too, O friend, suppose democracy was only for elections, for politics, and for a party name? I say democracy is only of use there that it may pass on and come to its flower and fruit in manners, in the highest forms of interaction between [people], and their beliefs -- in religion, literature, colleges and schools -- democracy in all public and private life....
We think that democracy can change a lot of things, but we're being fooled, because democracy is not the election. We've been taught that democracy is having elections. And it isn't. Elections are the most horrendous aspect of democracy. It's the most mundane, trivial, disappointing, dirty aspect.
Elections are won by men and women chiefly because most people vote against somebody rather than for somebody.
“ Voting is not a right. It is a method used to determine which politician was most able to brainwash you.”
“Election is the only course of action that
identifies liars before they are in power. ”
" Elections Determine who is in power, but they
do not determine how power is used."
